Hilton Head, South Carolina The Sea Pines Resort has unveiled Fraser’s Tavern, a newly named and renovated eatery with a casual feel in the Plantation Golf Club.  Fraser’s Tavern replaces the Live Oak restaurant and is open daily to the public, resort guests, property owners, families and, of course, golfers who play the Heron Point and Atlantic Dunes courses.

According to Director of Food & Beverage Matt Roher, Fraser’s Tavern – open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. – has been redesigned with a new décor featuring six new television sets, expanded booths, leather furniture, and a dart board, all dramatically highlighted by floor-to-ceiling windows that provide 270-degree views.

“We’ve expanded the menu and price points to appeal to a wider audience, and yet still offer first-class food, just now in a more casual environment,” Roher said. “We wanted a more approachable, laid-back feel for not only our golf crowd but also for resorts guests and area residents. Anyone who dined at Live Oak (the former restaurant) knows what an incredibly beautiful building we have here at the Plantation Golf Club – now we believe we provide an atmosphere that better matches what our customers want.”

Breakfast is served from 7 to 11 a.m., lunch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., happy hour from 4 to 6:30 p.m., and dinner from 4 to 9 p.m. Both indoor and outdoor seating are available.

The tavern-inspired menu includes a wide selection of entrees, sandwiches, pizzas, and salads made with locally-sourced ingredients. Adam Zensinger, Chef de Cuisine, said guests can expect first-class, fresh food and an innovative beverage menu.

“So much of what we serve here is made from scratch,” Zensinger said. “While the menu has changed and expanded in certain areas, the one thing that remains the same is the high quality of our food and how it’s presented.”

Zensinger said the most popular dishes at lunch continue to be the gumbo, three burger options, short rib cheesesteak, Southern fried chicken and five pizzas, all created with house-made dough.  Those items all are available on the dinner menu, joined by 16 diverse entrees, including shrimp and grits, pork shank, fried chicken, and Lowcountry fettuccini.

A wide selection of liquor, craft and bottled beers, and white and red wines also are available. For happy hour, Fraser’s Tavern offers five items each priced at $5, plus discounted alcoholic drinks. Golfers who bring in their scorecard after a round of golf at Heron Point or Atlantic Dunes will receive a $2 draft domestic beer.

“In addition to our golf crowd and resort guests, we really hope to welcome some of the Hilton Head locals and vacationing families staying here on the island,” Roher said. “They will find an inviting, beautiful atmosphere here at Fraser’s, and a menu that is appealing to everyone.”

Roher added the $6 gate fee will be reimbursed when dining at Fraser’s Tavern.

The restaurant is named after the Charles and Joe Fraser, the family of developers that created The Sea Pines Resort and built the Hilton Head Island community into the thriving destination it is today.

The Sea Pines Resort is also home to one of the crown jewels in the world of golf, Pete Dye’s classic Harbour Town Golf Links (home of the PGA TOUR’s RBC Heritage), located a short distance from the Plantation Golf Club, Heron Point, and Atlantic Dunes.
